Smartlabs facilitates seamless migration of STBs, new and old, to Android with BazePort

December 14, 2023

Smartlabs, a leading developer of solutions for interactive television, proudly announces its partnership with Norwegian provider BazePort to enable the migration of set-top boxes (STBs) to the Android operating system, revolutionizing the BazePort infotainment experience.

Smartlabs has provided customized AOSP software specifically designed for the SML-5051W and SML-5041W STBs, enabling BazePort to seamlessly migrate existing deployments from Linux to AOSP in the field. This migration approach empowers BazePort to offer upgraded services on a case-by-case and deployment-by-deployment basis, ensuring maximum flexibility for its customers.

Both Smartlabs and BazePort are dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that cater to the evolving needs of users.

Previously, we collaborated to integrate Pro:Idiom, a secure content distribution component, across all Smartlabs STBs deployed by BazePort. This advancement ensures a seamless and secure viewing experience for premium services like DirectTV, catering specifically to American customers. Find out more about this project.
