Smartlabs, a leading provider of streaming video platforms, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Cooptel, a triple-play operator based in Québec, Canada.
Cooptel has selected Smartlabs as its strategic technology partner to deliver a next-generation video experience to existing and new customers across its operational footprint.
The project officially kicked off on May 1st 2025, and is progressing under an accelerated deployment schedule, with go-live planned following a four-month implementation phase. Cooptel’s current platform will be replaced with Smartlabs SmartTUBE Ultra Platform with new applications for mobile devices, smartTVs and SmartLabs’ Android STBs.
The SmartTUBE Ultra Platform is an end-to-end ecosystem with SmartTUBE Ultra, a powerful and feature-rich service delivery platform, at its core. This product is complemented by the SmartMEDIA content delivery system, which enables Cooptel to manage and stream over 200 live channels, with cloud based recording, and thousands of hours of VoD. SmartCARE provides robust analytics tools for device and user management, while Smartlabs UDRM offers secure unicast DRM, supporting both Widevine (DASH) and Apple Fairplay (HLS) solutions
The deployment also includes a multi year commitment to the latest SML-5045W6 set-top boxes with integrated Wi-Fi 6 support.
Each SmartTUBE Ultra Application will be fully localized in both French and English, and each account supports up to five active devices simultaneously, providing flexibility for today’s fiber connected, multi-screen households.
A key feature of this deployment is multi-tenancy, allowing Cooptel to support additional ISP partners from their headend, enabling operator-grade services through a shared Smartlabs infrastructure.
Eduardo Campos, Sales Director Americas at Smartlabs, commented:
“We are thrilled to partner with Cooptel in delivering a modern, high-performance TV experience to their customers. Our platform’s flexibility, ongoing innovation roadmap, and the strength of our technical team were critical in meeting Cooptel’s ambitious objectives on a tight timeline.”
Bryan Champagne, Director of Technology at Cooptel, added:
“This migration was a strategic move for us to better serve our customers and prepare for the future. Smartlabs offered the technical excellence and agility we needed to transition quickly, without compromise. With this new platform, we not only modernize our core TV service but unlock the ability to support other ISPs through a shared infrastructure model.”
The phased migration of Cooptel’s subscribers to the Smartlabs platform will ensure service continuity for all existing customers while introducing a richer, more flexible user experience .
