Smartlabs and BazePort collaborate to support DirectTV for US clients

Smartlabs and BazePort today announced support for Pro:Idiom, a secure content distribution component for hospitality and commercial sectors. The technology is available on all Smartlabs STBs deployed by BazePort, providing a seamless and secure viewing of premium services, such as DirectTV, for American customers.
Pro:Idiom technology, a creation by LG Electronics, stands at the forefront of ensuring secure content distribution across diverse hospitality and commercial sectors. Its core function lies in encrypting high-definition digital television and Video on Demand (VoD) signals as they travel from the source to display devices, ensuring a protected transmission process.
This technology emerges as a solution for providing secure and uninterrupted entertainment experiences within the realms of hospitality, healthcare, and other commercial sectors. Notable content providers such as HBO, Showtime, and ESPN rely on Pro:Idiom to fortify the security of their high-quality content, effectively protecting copyrighted materials and maintain their integrity during delivery to authorised devices such as televisions and set-top boxes.
Traditionally, Pro:Idiom support was exclusively available on LG hardware, limiting choices for clients. However, SmartLabs and BazePort have obtained the necessary licensing to provide Pro:Idiom support, a step that broadens the range of compatible devices.
By incorporating this technology into Smartlabs’ set-top boxes — including SML-5010W, SML-5051W, and SML-5041W — BazePort could now deliver a high-quality television viewing experience especially for its American customers. The Pro:Idiom encryption protocol also ensures the integrity and security of Video on Demand (VoD) signals.
