Smartlabs Unveils 2024 Year-End Updates

December 20, 2024

Smartlabs is proud to unveil its 2024 year-end software updates. The updates focus on enhancing the user experience, expanding marketing tools for operators, and improving streaming quality.

In-App Purchase Support for iOS and iPadOS

The SmartTUBE Apps now supports in-app purchases, allowing users to buy content or subscribe to services directly on their iOS and iPadOS devices. To enable this functionality, operators simply need to map their content with the Apple App Store billing system. This update enhances user convenience by extending purchase capabilities beyond the STB app to iOS and iPadOS devices.

Kids Profile Support

The Kids Profile feature empowers parents to manage and customize their children's viewing experience. In addition to setting a maximum age level for TV channels and VOD content, it now allows parents to configure downtime intervals and enforce daily viewing limits. Initially introduced in beta, this functionality is now fully available on iOS and large-screen devices.

Google Chromecast Support

SmartTUBE Android and iOS mobile apps now offer full support for screen sharing to Chromecast devices and TVs with built-in Chromecast functionality. In addition to the existing support for Apple AirPlay and Smartlabs Screen Sharing technologies, this feature enhances users' ability to seamlessly transfer content viewing between devices. Previously announced in beta, it is now fully available for all users.

Movie Сatalog by Сast and Director

Users can now easily browse movies associated with a particular actor or director by selecting them on any movie’s details page. Operators can manage these personalities through their existing VoD content import and editing workflows. Now fully available on iOS and large-screen devices, this feature helps subscribers quickly discover titles featuring their favorite cast members and directors.

Targeted Banner Promotions

SmartTUBE now allows operators to precisely manage the display audience for each banner on the home screen and in the player when content is paused. By combining subscriber filters such as service account number/status/creation date, pricing plan, service bundle status, device type/location, etc., operators can increase the accuracy of targeting their promotions. Operators can now use images and screenshots already uploaded for TV shows, movies, series, seasons, and episodes to the SmartTUBE Admin Console as banners. These images can be resized directly within the console to meet the banner requirements. This feature streamlines the process of selecting and customizing banners for content promotion.

Bug-fixing and Improvements

In addition to the outlined features, the year-end updates to SmartTUBE SDP and Apps include numerous enhancements focused on bug fixes and performance optimization.

The latest version of the SmartMEDIA Content Delivery System has also been upgraded to improve streaming stability and image integrity, even when handling problematic source streams.

Committed to exceeding modern industry standards, we relentlessly work to enhance the stability, performance, and user experience of both our applications and backend systems.
