AI, Accessibility & Analytics: Discover the Latest Upgrades Across Smartlabs’ Product Suite

October 16, 2025
SmartLabs, a provider and system integrator of IPTV and OTT solutions, today announced the upcoming release of version 25.10 for its SmartTUBE, SmartMEDIA, and SmartCARE product suite. The new version introduces transition to the transparent release versioning standard, enabling users to immediately identify the year (25.x) and month (x.10) of each release.

SmartTUBE

AI-Powered Program Descriptions and Chapters

The platform now offers AI-generated descriptions and chapter markers for recorded TV programs. This feature processes actual video streams to create accurate program descriptions and identify key moments within shows. Descriptions and chapters become available in detailed TV program cards and full-screen player some time after the end of the TV broadcast, and the speed of their generation depends on the performance of the equipment on which the video stream is analyzed.

This technology reduces content management overhead for operators while positioning their service as technologically advanced. Subscribers benefit from more accurate program information and can easily navigate to interesting segments within recorded content. This feature is available with the Ultra license.

Streamlined Mobile Authentication via QR Code

Users can now authorize mobile SmartTUBE applications by scanning a QR code displayed in the SmartTUBE app for Smart TVs. This eliminates manual credential entry on mobile devices. The simplified authentication process reduces login-related support requests, while subscribers experience seamless access to mobile apps without the frustration of searching for and typing credentials

Auto-Preview on Movie Ribbons

The SmartTUBE apps for large-screen devices now support video preview for VoD content in poster ribbons. When users hover over a movie poster for more than 5 seconds, preview playback begins automatically. Operators can configure the ribbon geometry and preview delay through standard configuration tools. Subscribers can quickly evaluate content quality and relevance without committing to full-screen playback, which increases content engagement rates and reduces browsing abandonment.

Subscription Management Improvements

The updated subscription interface now displays end dates in the “My Subscriptions” section and includes visual logos for improved service recognition. Service banners appear in description windows, while subscription options are automatically sorted by price with a streamlined purchase flow that reduces dialog steps. These improvements are intended to reduce subscription-related support inquiries and improve conversion rates. Subscribers receive clearer information about their services and experience a simplified, more intuitive purchase process.

EPG Performance and Infrastructure Enhancements

The platform has undergone comprehensive performance and infrastructure improvements, beginning with Electronic Program Guide optimizations through enhanced data retrieval and caching mechanisms that reduce memory consumption while delivering faster response times. Core platform components have been upgraded to strengthen security and system stability, providing operators with reduced server load, lower infrastructure costs, and increased reliability. Subscribers experience instant EPG loading with smooth scrolling through channels and programs while enjoying improved platform responsiveness during peak usage periods.

Enhanced VoD Consumption Reporting

The SmartTUBE Admin Console now features detailed VoD viewing history for each service account. The system separately tracks SVoD and TVoD consumption patterns, providing granular insights into user behavior. These enhanced analytics enable support teams to quickly resolve customer inquiries with comprehensive viewing history access, improving resolution times and customer satisfaction.

European Accessibility Act Compliance

Visually impaired subscribers now can gain full access to all SmartTUBE applications’ features through audio feedback. All interactive UI elements now include proper semantic attributes, enabling compatibility with native screen readers across Tizen Voice Assistant, LG Voice Guide, and Android TV TalkBack. The comprehensive ARIA label implementation ensures full compliance with Directive 2019/882 requirements and allows operators to meet mandatory accessibility requirements while expanding their addressable market.

SmartMEDIA

Redesigned SmartMEDIA Admin Console with Storage Intelligence

The SmartMEDIA Admin Console has undergone a redesign that improves functional usability while maintaining the familiar core workflow for channel recording setup. The enhanced interface now includes real-time storage monitoring for non-S3 file systems and automatically calculates disk space requirements for channel recordings based on current settings. This combination of intuitive design and proactive storage management enables operators to prevent recording failures, optimize infrastructure investments, and reduce training time for administrative staff.

Low Latency Support for H265 and AC-3 Codecs

SmartMEDIA now supports recording, transcoding, and encryption of H265 content in Low Latency format, with additional support for AC-3 audio transcoding to AAC. These codec enhancements enable operators to deliver higher quality content with minimal delay across diverse device ecosystems, providing subscribers with superior video quality particularly beneficial for live sports and events.

SmartCARE

Detailed Parameter Descriptions

The SmartCARE Admin Console now features contextual pop-up hints for nearly every parameter, providing instant clarification for complex metrics without requiring documentation reference. This enhancement reduces training requirements for support staff and enables faster, more accurate troubleshooting of service issues. Properly understood metrics lead to informed decisions and proactive service improvements that enhance overall subscriber satisfaction.
